On Thursday, November 27, 2025, the Iraqi Scientific Society for Concrete (ISSC), in cooperation with the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized a field visit for fourth-year students, accompanied by the Society's President, Professor Dr. Alaa Hussein Al-Zuhairi, several members, and faculty members from the department, to the Al-Sarafiya Steel Bridge project site. The purpose of the visit was to familiarise the students with the bridge's design concept and the technologies used in manufacturing and installing its steel components. They received explanations from engineers from Khatib & Alami (the supervising firm for the project) and engineers from the bridge's construction company (Samco), as well as accompanying professors, regarding the design methodology for the bridge spans, the types of steel sections used in its construction, and the methods for connecting and installing them at their respective locations. The visiting students expressed their satisfaction with the valuable information they gained, which will enhance their understanding of this important type of project and broaden their engineering knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
